چکیده

Background: The organic matter (OM) in soils interacts with polyvalent cations such as Ca2+ through hydroxyl (OH), carboxylic acid, ester, keto, aldehyde (summarized C=O), and carboxylate (COO?) functional groups. Such interactions affect the bonding strength of double bond between C O atom groups, which is assumed to shift wavenumber (WN) region O–H (hydroxyl), C=O, COO?, OMcat (i.e., C=O interacting plus groups) absorption band maxima Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. shifts limit evaluation spectral information on OM soil samples. Aims: objective this study was analyze extent changes intensities for relations cation concentrations, estimate effects properties potential wettability evaluated from FTIR ratios. Methods: Polygalacturonic acid (PGA) solutions were mixed a CaCl2 solution at different relations. freeze-dried mixtures analyzed spectroscopy mid-infrared range by using KBr-technique. spectra interpreted respect O–H, bands, latter reflecting formation PGA-Ca2+ complexes. Results: PGA–Ca compared that pure PGA indicate addition both, intensity WN value OMcat, COO? maxima. COO?/C–O–C ratio increased concentration while C–H/C–O–C decreased. Furthermore, shifted towards lower values, higher values. two times than maximum concentration. Conclusion: Spectral depend automated interpretations without prior soil-specific corrections.

Market structure explained by pairwise interactions

Financial markets are a typical example of complex systems where interactions between constituents lead to many remarkable features. Here we give empirical evidence, by making as few assumptions as possible, that the market microstructure capturing almost all of the available information in the data of stock markets does not involve higher order than pairwise interactions. We give an economic i...

FTIR spectral imaging applications in trace evidence

Infrared spectral (or chemical) imaging is emerging as an exciting new tool in forensic analysis. Here we present some of our work in the application of infrared spectral imaging to different types of trace evidence: automotive paint chips, bicomponent fibers and the detection of illicit substances in fingerprints. INTRODUCTION Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectral (or chemical) imaging is...

Spectral Inverse Quantum (Spectral-IQ) Method for Modeling Mesoporous Systems: Application on Silica Films by FTIR

The present work advances the inverse quantum (IQ) structural criterion for ordering and characterizing the porosity of the mesosystems based on the recently advanced ratio of the particle-to-wave nature of quantum objects within the extended Heisenberg uncertainty relationship through employing the quantum fluctuation, both for free and observed quantum scattering information, as computed upon...

Forest production responses to irrigation and fertilization are not explained by shifts in allocation

Production increases in intensively managed forests have been obtained by improving resource availability through water and nutrient amendments. Increased stem production has been attributed to shifts in growth from roots to shoot, and such shifts would have important implications for belowground carbon sequestration. We examined above and belowground growth and biomass accumulation and distrib...
